Jo graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, in Fine Art BA(Hons) and from the University of Dundee with MSc in Forensic Art. She went on to complete an Internship in Forensic Art & Anthropology with the Turkish National Police in Ankara, Turkey. Jo is currently a full time Forensic Imaging Officer within the forensic services industry in Scotland.
She is fascinated by the diversity of the human face and as a portraiture artist has learned that portraiture is not limited to recognition, and faces are not blank composites of the prominent features, but are active surfaces and shapes which compose the expression or ‘look’ of a person. The intent to display the physical likeness, personality, and often incorporating the mood of the individual has always been the inspiration for her oil paintings and motivated her to improve her techniques with by adding the knowledge of head and neck anatomy through MSc Forensic Art.
