Post-Mortem depiction is a method of forensic art used when bodies are in good enough condition for an artist to depict a reasonable facial likeness based upon morgue or crime scene photographs.
A sketch or computerized enhancement can mask the appearance of damaged facial tissue of unidentified persons whether it’s as a result of physical assault, injury, non-severe effects of fire or water etc. A more appropriate facial image is created to aid identification.
Post-mortem depiction can help to generate possible names for further investigation and create media interest
